Privacy policy

This website (Aangan) is run by Aangan ("we"). This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and the rights you have under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023.

What we collect

• When you enquire about a property: your name, mobile number, optional email and message, and your consent to be contacted.
• When you create an account: your name, email, mobile number, account type and a password (stored only in scrambled form).
• When you post a property: the property details and photos you upload, and your contact details.
• When you pay to feature a listing: the amount, plan and Razorpay payment ID. Card, UPI and bank details are handled by Razorpay, not by us.
• When you browse: a login cookie if you sign in, and the number of times a listing is viewed. We do not use advertising trackers.

Why we use it

• To put you in touch about the property you asked about and similar properties that match your needs, by phone, SMS or WhatsApp.
• To show your listing to buyers and tenants, and to manage your account and payments.
• To keep the site safe, stop misuse, and meet legal and tax requirements.

We use your data only for these purposes and only with your consent where the law requires it.

Who we share it with

• When you enquire, your details go to us. We may pass them to the owner or agent of that property to arrange a visit.
• Service providers who run the site for us: web hosting (Render), payments (Razorpay) and, if used, maps and email services.
• Government or police authorities when the law requires it.

We do not sell your personal data.

How long we keep it

Enquiries and leads are kept while we are helping you and for up to 2 years after our last contact, unless you ask us to delete them sooner. Payment records are kept as long as tax law requires. Listings are kept until you delete them or close your account.

Your rights

You can ask us to: see the personal data we hold about you; correct or update it; delete it; withdraw your consent to be contacted (we will stop contacting you, though this does not undo what happened before); and name someone to exercise these rights for you. You can delete your own listings from My account. For anything else, contact us at the phone number shown on this website. We will reply within 30 days.

Security

The site uses HTTPS, passwords are stored scrambled, and only authorised staff can see enquiries. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects your data we will inform you and the Data Protection Board as the law requires.

Children

This site is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Grievance officer

For complaints about your data, contact our grievance officer at the phone number shown on this website. If you are not satisfied with our reply, you may complain to the Data Protection Board of India.

Changes

We will post any changes on this page with a new date.
